Evangelism: Starting with Who You Know - Brian Van Zante
These days it feels like the most difficult form of evangelism is sharing Christ with the people we regularly see. Yet Acts says that God has placed each person in specific times and places SO THAT He won't be far from anyone. One of the ways this is true is believers being in close proximity to non-believers. So how does a Christian go about having the vision, tools, faith, and courage to evangelistically move towards roommates, classmates, friends, & family? Join Brian to hear some ideas!
Brian Van Zante is a husband of 27 years and a proud father of three young married adults. An associate campus director at UW-Madison since 2018, he’s served on college campuses with The Navigators in three states and Japan since 1995. Investing in students one-to-one and communicating the Gospel are his passions. Sprint triathlons, slalom water skiing, and snowboarding are some of his favorite ways to live and disciple among lost friends. |
Reevaluating Your Relationship with Streaming Media - Jeff Wiegel
It's hard these days not to have the sense that our personal relationship with streaming media is disproportionately supersized compared to everything else. What might it look like for the 21st century Christian to thoughtfully use streaming media as a tool, instead of passively allowing it to be our lord and master? Jeff will have some very practical steps and experiments to use less streaming media and replace that time with more purpose and presence.
Jeff is a UW-Madison alum and has served on EDGE Corps at MSU-Mankato, as the campus director at UWEC, and the staff trainer at UW-Madison, where he and his family live. He enjoys all things outdoors (hiking, biking, playing sports, gardening, adventuring), and a good book or board game. |
Sexual Health and Wholeness: Is Sex Gross, Guilt, God, or Good? - Nick Peterson
Sexuality is one of most significant sources of pain, confusion, shame, and guilt in our culture and the church today. But wouldn’t it be great if we could get some clarity from the One who created sex? This seminar will seek to answer three key questions: 1) What does the Bible have to say about sex as God’s good design and gift? 2) What are the lies the culture teaches about sex and how should we respond to them? 3) What are some practical ways to walk in sexual health and wholeness?
Nick is a UWEC alum and has served as the campus director at SDSU and UWEC, where he and his family now live. He can always be found thinking, playing board games, reading or listening to books, and helping college students grow in Lord. |
Walking as Jesus Walked - Trevor and Cassie Long
1 John 2:6 says: “whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.” In his humanity Jesus modeled the life that God intended for each of us to live. To walk like Jesus means we are to emulate the pattern of living that Jesus modeled for us. In this seminar we’ll take a quick look together at 6 foundational priorities upon which Jesus built His life and ministry. And we’ll discuss practical ways that we can begin to emulate these priorities in our day-to-day life on campus.
Trevor serves as the regional director of the Upper Midwest collegiate Navigators and Cassie serves alongside him in staff care and development. For the last 20 years, they have given their lives to raising up generations of disciplemakers, first in Europe and then here in Minnesota. They live in the Twin Cities and have 4 awesome kids spanning 5 to 13 years of age. |
What is Truth? - Clint Rivas
Like Pontius Pilate, many in our modern culture are asking "What is Truth? Does objective truth even exist?" This apologetics workshop will explore how we can give biblical answers to these questions and other challenges to the Christian worldview.
Clint is a Marine Corps vet who has been involved with the Navigators in multiple ministries: Navs Military on base at Camp Lejeune, World Missions in Senegal, Africa, and now Navs Collegiate at Northwestern University-St Paul. He currently leads the "Tough Questions Bible Study" on campus, as well as the Tabletop Gaming Club. His passions include theology, philosophy, apologetics, and weapons training. He lives with his wife, son, and soon-to-arrive baby daughter in Crystal, MN. Clint has never heard an objection to Christianity that doesn't have a satisfying answer, so come check out the workshop if you want to ask him a question he's never heard before! |
